7 Swar - Sargam

Notes are called Swar or Swara in classical Indian music. The notes all together are called Sargam. One note is called Swar.

The 7 basic notes are: shadja, rishabh, gandhar, madhyam, pancham, dhaivat y nishad but they are sung as
Sa, Re, Ga, Ma Pa Dha, Ni


Alankar

Alankar are patterns using the notes in Indian music. These patterns are often used as vocal exercises and are also used in improvisations.
